HOW DOES SAXENDA WORK?
Saxenda works on decreasing hunger while increasing feelings of satiety, thus effectively managing weight loss. It specifically targets the hypothalamus, where it interacts with certain neurons involved in the regulation of appetite and food intake. As a result, patients taking Saxenda feel satisfied and eat less food, leading to significant weight loss.
FORMULATION
One 3mL pre-filled pen of Saxenda consists of 18mg of Liraglutide. Liraglutide is a human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog that stimulates insulin release and inhibits glucagon secretion, thereby decreasing appetite and reducing food intake. It is 97% similar to the native hormone GLP-1 is released in response to food intake and acts as a physiological regulator of appetite. Other ingredients included in the formulation of this unique weight-loss injectable are Disodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol, hydrochloric acid (for pH adjustment), sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), and water for injections.

Storage: New, unused Saxenda Pens can be stored in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C.
